Sydney Summer 2011 Internships for US College Students & Graduates
With a great bunch of US students already in Sydney for their summer internship, we are looking ahead to an even bigger 2011 Summer programme. Intern Options is receiving a large number of US applications, as we are the experts on Australia and New Zealand placements.

Who are Intern Options?
Intern Options is a specialist UK based internship and work placement company. We have many USA students and graduates applying each year. With the owner of Intern Options having lived, studied and worked in the USA, we know how to best place you into Sydney at a cost that won’t break the bank.
We have seen the price some US companies charge you and to be honest we were shocked by this. We have seen internship packages up to US$8,000 for a short summer internship which doesn’t even include flights or meals. Intern Options can provide the same if not better quality of internship with more flexibility, for much much less. All this from a company that specializes in Australia and New Zealand, run by Kiwi’s and Aussies!
What’s the cost?
The Sydney Internships programme cost in US dollars is about US$1,300 (UK £800 pounds). At Intern Options we don’t believe in a full service package. Most internship providers that make up these full service packages include a lot of money for themselves!
The Intern Options programme has a one off programme cost that includes:
- Guaranteed internship placement before you leave the USA
- Full support from our Sydney team (If anything goes wrong, they will be there for you)
- Weekly or bi-weekly organized catch ups with all the interns from around the world
- Weekly newsletter with what’s going on in Sydney and activities for you to do
- Assistance applying for your visa
- Assistance looking at airfares and insurance
- Australian bank account set up
- Resume review
- Phone interview coaching and tips
How to fund your Internship
You will need to fund your internship in Australia or New Zealand yourself. There are a number of scholarships that US citizens can be eligible for.
The best place to start is your university, who often have a list of the scholarships they know of.

On top of the flat programme fee, if you want us to organise the little things to make your trip go that much smoother we can. Otherwise you can do this yourself, for example:
- Accommodation/ housing includes bills and broadband (estimated cost per week – US$150 to US$270+)
- Airport transfer (US$100 or a taxi from the airport will be between US$30 and US$60)
- VIP travel pack (US$85) containing:
- Australian guide book
- Australian SIM card
- VIP travel card for discounts at hostels, travel and merchandise around Australia and the world
After the above costs you will be looking at spending money in Sydney which is different for each person but you should budget between US$200 and US$400 per week to cover food, transport, eating out and maybe one big activity per week.
