Step 3: A member of the Intern Options team will contact you once we have assessed your application form, then we just need a deposit of £300 (final payment of £99 due before you depart) and you will have one of the 35 places confirmed for July in 2010.

Step 4: Once your position has been confirmed we will help you through all the decisions you need to make to get out to Australia. This includes looking at flights, insurance, visa application, Australian bank account set up, accommodation, arrival package and anything else you need from us.

Come with a group of friends or on your own and combine some work and travel around Australia, this popular programme allows you to work for around three months and then travel on the money you will have saved.

There is no experience needed for our Australian Horticulture programme, as training is included and we can organise you paid work for between two and six months. If you’re travelling around Australia we can even organise you work in different areas as you travel.

How many positions are available?

For 2011 we had 35 positions available to start in July in Margaret River. Positions will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Typically positions fill quickly and we cannot guarantee you a position if you do apply late.

When can I start?

Margaret River starts the first week of July, however as this is horticulture work, it is weather dependent.

What work will I be doing?

All positions starting in July will be pruning work on vineyards in Margaret River. After this time work is available on banana and mango plantations and various other fruit picking positions as demand requires.

Who will I be working with?

You will be working with a mixture of fellow travellers either just starting off their Australian travel plans and those coming to the end of their year. There will also be horticulture students, both Australian and from all over the world. There will be anywhere from 20 to 100 people mostly between the ages of 18 and 30 working on the same vineyard as you, so conditions will be sociable and you will meet a lot of people.

What is the pay like?

Pay rates start at A$17 (Australian Dollars). As you are paid on an hourly rate you will need to meet a minimum speed of pruning. If you fall below this minimum pruning speed then you could be moved to another job or let go.

You will also be eligible for 9% Australian superannuation (pension) contribution on top of your wage. We will assist you to set up an Australian fund and introduce you to a company who can transfer this home for you.

What’s included – We help you every step of the way

Full support is provided from point of application through to you flying out of the UK. This includes assistance with your visa application, booking flights, insurance, opening an Australian bank account and Australian tax number. Accommodation will be organised for you and the cost is additional to the Intern Options programme cost. Full details on accommodation cost and location will be given before you apply.

How much does this programme cost?

The cost of our Australian Horticulture programme for any length of time will be £399. This price does not include the cost of Flights, Insurance, visa or accommodation costs.
