Sporthorse Stud Profile

This Sporthorse stud is dedicated to the breeding and production of sane, sound, user-friendly riding horses. Every breeders aim is to breed the Olympian sport horse however along the journey we aim to breed athletic, trainable horses that are a pleasure to ride.

We have a wide range of stallions including:

• English Thoroughbred cross by the famous Welton Crackerjack

• A warmblood by Voltaire II

• A French Thoroughbred cross carrying both Selle Francais showjumping lines of Jaguar and Valiant

• A partbred Clydesdale

We are able to accommodate most mare types and can give valuable advice as to which stallion to recommend that best compliments your mare. We have bred advanced Eventers, champion field hunters, exported showjumpers to the US and Taiwan, pleasure horses, show horses, champion ponies and have horses competing successfully in the dressage arena.

Our mares and progeny are selected for their bloodlines, conformation, performance, and importantly temperament resulting in young horses with trainability and a willingness to please, that are a pleasure to own and we are proud carry our brand.

In essence we are a top New Zealand Sport horse with the finest selection of Sport Horse Stallions, a stud where you can view a large range of sporthorses for sale or friendly advice.

This position will pay an allowance that will be discussed after viewing your CV, but will be around NZ$100 per week and the position includes free accommodation and board so your living costs will be very low.

Duties

Typical duties at this stable are varied and depend will usually change each day. You will be required to get your hands dirty cleaning out stables, feeding, cleaning horses and gear each day. If you have a good level of riding experience then you will be involved in exercising horses, the handling and starting under saddle of young horses through to training and re-schooling of older horses.

The attitude that this stud is looking for is someone who loves horses, is willing to get stuck in and get their hands dirty with the chores that need to be done and then can enjoy the good parts of one of New Zealand’s top sporthorse studs.
