Amy started her Hospitality Internship in Christchurch, New Zealand in July 2009 and I was speaking to her this morning by email and all seems to be going well.

Another of our hospitality students, Susie is also heading down to Christchurch for a six month internship and will be on her internship at the same hotel as Amy. So as we speak I think they are emailing each other to find out how things are going in Christchurch.

Christchurch is known as the Garden City of New Zealand and is one of the largest cities in the South Island of New Zealand, with a population of just over 350,000. In the summer you can enjoy the river Avon and the beautiful gardens and parks around the city. In the winter you are very close to the best ski slopes in the Southern Hemisphere!

The feedback so far from Amy is that she is loving her internship and with her parents heading out to visit her in New Zealand around Christmas, I’m sure Amy will have lots to tell us about her travels.

With a start date of 15^th September, Grace will be arriving in Auckland, New Zealand a couple of weeks early to get things like accommodation, bank account etc sorted before starting her hospitality internship.  Grace has some experience on her CV already working in English pubs and a catering agency, this 5 star hotel internship will build on that experience nicely.

When Grace applied to Intern Options for a 12 month hospitality internship, she was looking to further her knowledge in all fields of hospitality, with a particular passionate for wines.

With a level two Wines and Spirit Education Trust qualification, what better place to go than the New World to get her hands on some of New Zealand’s top wines in one of New Zealand’s top 5 star hotels.

When Grace starts her hotel internship in September she will undergo 4-6 weeks of training and then will be working in the hotel’s new ball room, that has just been constructed.  From there as long as Grace impresses her manager and works hard, I think the hotel have some great plans for Grace, that we will hopefully hear about from her, when it happens through the blog.

So that’s about all from me, again we wish Grace all the best for her 12 month hospitality internship and hope she enjoys her time Auckland which is Jon from Intern Options home town.
