What are you most looking forward to in Australia?

Where do i start?! I am so excited to experience every aspect of Australia! Waking up to go for a morning surf and experience the golden beaches, socialise in the well renowned coffee shops, and of course participate in beating the Aussies at a game of cricket!!

From a more serious perspective, I am relishing the chance to adapt to the Australian culture and I am really excited about the business internship I am going to partake in.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship?

I hope to learn a detailed insight into the day to day running of a successful company, where I can use my academic knowledge to fulfill my potential in a hands on approach. Relative work experience is vital in society today and I hope to learn and develop critical skills in order to further my career. I hope to achieve excellence in any task put in front of me, to prove to myself I have what it takes to be a success.

What do you think this internship/ placement will add to your CV?

I believe an internship abroad will add the ability to see business and personal issues from another cultural perspective. This will enable me to adapt to changes and have valuable skill sets that other home graduates wouldn’t have.

Why are you travelling to Australia for your internship?

I am traveling to Australia for my Internship because it’s a country I have always wanted to experience. Ranging from the tourist attractions such as the Sydney Harbour, to experiencing the golden beaches and watching the Melbourne Storm!

How jealous do you think your friends are going to be?

Extremely jealous……..their loss, my gain!

Anything else you can think of?

No…I just want to get there now!!!!

What are you most looking forward to in Australia?

I look forward to experiencing a unique culture and lifestyle.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship?

I hope to learn as much as I can about the firm itself and the industry that its in. I hope to experience something that only a handful have experienced before.

What do you think this internship/ placement will add to your CV?

I think that this internship will add a new dimension to my CV that is absent on others. It will show that I relish new challenges and show my ability to adapt to any situation without any major problems.

Why are you travelling to Australia for your internship?

I have always wanted to travel to Australia but never had the chance. I think this is the perfect opportunity to combine my career and personal hobbies.

How jealous do you think your friends are going to be?

I think all my friends are going to be quite jealous as many of them ! are having trouble finding placements and just because of the fact that I will be in Australia will make them very jealous.

Currently I am working on a tropical island just off the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Everything is going so well, I am so lucky to be working at such an amazing place.

I am a member of the food and beverage team and I’m learning so much new skills which will be useful when I go home for final year of University and I know this experience will look good on my CV.

The people we work with are lovely and have been so helpful to us making the big move over here. Most weeks we work very long hours but believe me the pay makes up for this fact, the hourly rate is amazing.

Our accomodation is brilliant, it doesn’t cost us much in rent and its excatly what a paying guest would stay in. Its close to the beach and we are allowed to use all the facilities on the island like the pool, tennis courts and gym. We also get a pretty good discount on food and drink on the island as well as in the general store, we also are allowed a free ferry back and forward to the mainland so this comes in very handy.

On the social side, there is not very many “live on staff” on the island but the small number there is all get on so well with each other. We often have dinner in each others cabins and have been over to the mainland for a few big nights out and most of the staff all when to Melbourne Cup Day Races which gave us an oppertunity to wear our hats. But my highlight of Australia so far has been the two days we all spent in Bryon Bay, Its a must see of Australia!

Finally another thing that has been great about organising my internship through Internoptions is that I got to work and live alongside Lucy who also organised her internship through the company. So far we’ve had some good times and its great to have someone with you doing the same thing.

Summer Internships

This will be my first trip to Australia. I look forward to living in a new city, discovering a new culture and I am also eager to learn how business works in Australia.

During my internship, I hope to gain the relevant skills and practical work experience in order to work within the conference production sector. This will make my CV stand out and enhance my chances of getting a graduate job in the UK.

I study International Business, therefore it is important for me to show future employers that I can live and work internationally. An opportunity like this will enable me to not only get a head start on my future career, but will also allow me to have the whole travelling experience too.

I want to make the most of it, so in my free time I would like to do a skydive and also travel around Australia or maybe visit New Zealand. I can’t wait! I hope this will be an amazing life changing experience.

To meet a lot of new people, get to know a new country and to get new experiences.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your placement?

I want to develop as much as possible beacuse I love the buisness!

What do you think this placement will add to your CV?

I think it will be very positive for my cv to have a placement in the Whitsundays, since it has good reputation and to move a cross the world shows that you are a independent person.

Why are you travelling to Australia for your internship?

I’ve never been to Australia and it has always been a dream, and when I found this oppertunity I thought why not? I think this will be the best adventure ever!

How jealous do you think your friends are going to be?

Since the winter begins in Sweden when I leave I think everyone will be pretty jealous when I’m in sunny Australia and having the time of my life. Hopefully I inspire some of my friends to travelling to Australia as well

Oliver was placed in one week from receiving his application to him flying out to Australia. This is by far the fastest application we have processed. Oliver has had this to say about how his internship is progressing so far:

Hi Jon

Yeah its all going well, been here 5 weeks now and settled in well. Its a great environment to work at and the community/social life is great fun.

Working in the Restaurant is enjoyable. It is pretty consistently busy, as the customers are on holiday every day the restaurants get filled. Unlike a normal restaurant that is busy throughout the weekend, slow Monday – Tuesday and picks up on Wednesday. Here its full on all the time. I work 38 hours a week with shifts starting at either 12, 2 or 9 open and usually finishing at between 9-11. And get 2 days off.

Living on the island is expensive as its a holiday resort and everything is imported so everything is at a premium. Although as I work in a restaurant I do get cheap/free meals. They say the general store here is the most expensive in all of Australia, but you can order food on the internet that gets delivered to your door.

The pay is fantastic and will I probably leave with a nice amount saved up.

The social life and community is great with most people going out on regular nights.

The living areas are basic but its all you need really, shared room with kitchenette. Everything is within walking distance and my walk to work takes less than 10 minutes.

In your free time theres plenty of activities to do and as staff I get a discounts on mostly everything.

Mostly, I am looking forward to further broaden my horizon on a professional as well as on a personal level. I wish to experience the daily life and culture of Australia and I hope to gain new skills from working in a competitive and international business environment.

I love travelling and I’m very excited to meet new people and explore the diverse and natural beauty of the country.

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship?

I hope to gain more practical experience in my field and built on my previous skills and knowledge. Furthermore I look forward to facing new challenges and learn from new tasks and people. Due to my strong interest in culture, I also hope to gain a more profound understanding of the local business mentality and approach.

What do you think this internship/ placement will add to your CV?

I have always thrived to develop an international CV with diversified skills. I think this internship will add to this whilst giving it a stronger focus through a more in-depth experience in my field, which should give the CV a more competitive edge.

Why are you travelling to Australia for your internship?

Australia fascinates me! An internship in Sidney will not only place me right in the centre of Australians innovative and international economy, but will also give me the opportunity to immerse in its diverse and dynamic cultural and social scene.

How jealous do you think your friends are going to be?

All my friends that have visited Australia have completely fallen in love with it and will definitely come and visit!
