This article is written to start you thinking about your 2011 internship and direct you in the right direction to resources to help you plan.

Why? Because lets be honest starting is the hardest part when you are looking at such an important decision as getting that first bit of quality work experience on your CV.

If you are required to do a 6 or 12 month internship as part of your studies then your decision is already made.  What a lot of students don’t know when we speak to them is that you can break a 12 month internship up into two six month internships.  This is very popular at the moment as you get the opportunity to experience two different placements and have two different international employers on your CV too.

Some universities require that you have both internships organised or at least guaranteed before you start, some just the first six month placement, so it is important you talk this through with your placement tutor or lecturer.
