Study Options in Australia and New Zealand

Have you thought about continuing your study or just continuing your Australian experience?

Did you know you could apply to study in Australia?  Whether you are looking to continue your university study through to postgraduate level, or just looking for a change of scene and experience, there are many ways in which you could benefit from choosing to spend a period studying in Australia.

You could:

  • Study in the sunshine!  If you haven’t done any further education yet, why not have a bit of a different study experience and go Down Under
  • Transfer credit from a degree you have already started in the UK
  • Move on to do a postgraduate qualification in a range of subjects, including PGCE, Masters degrees or even PhD’s.
  • Go for a complete change!  If you’re looking for a new career, you could re-qualify in one of a wide range of vocational subjects.

But I’ve already used my working holiday visa for Australia…

Doesn’t matter! The fact that you’ve had a working holiday has no impact on your student visa application; the two schemes are completely separate.  In contrast to the working holiday visa scheme, there are also no age restrictions on student visas.  However you do have to have a confirmed offer of a place at an Australian university or college, and it must be for a full-time study course.  International students are not eligible for part-time courses or apprenticeships in Australia.

I’m looking for a change of scene, can I study New Zealand?

Plenty of study options there too!  The further education in both countries is very similar to that in the UK, so everything you can do in Australia, you can also do in New Zealand.

So how do I find out more about studying in Australia or New Zealand?

Study Options is a free, expert, independent service for anyone looking to study in Australia and New Zealand. We are the official representative of Australian and New Zealand universities and colleges in the UK and Ireland, and are here to ensure the process of applying to those institutions is as stress-free and straightforward as possible for you. Study Options is the only organisation in the UK that focuses exclusively on Australian and New Zealand education. Hundreds of UK students apply to Australian and New Zealand institutions through Study Options every year.

So, what can Study Options do to help?

  • Free information and advice – Providing information on what courses are available and which might suit you best is a key part of what we do.  We do the work for you, so rather than spend hours Googling, why not just get in touch with us (either by phone on 020 7353 7200, or by filling in our email enquiry form) and let us know what you are interested in studying.
  • Putting you in touch with the universities and colleges – Study Options is the official UK representative for institutions across Australia and New Zealand, and so we are the first to let you know when their staff are coming to visit.  We host opportunities throughout the year to talk to their staff face-to-face, on the phone or through web chats.   We will also bring them to a city near you with our College Roadshow and Open Days events.
  • Sorting out the paperwork – Make sure you fill in all the right forms, we will send all the information and forms you need to make a successful application to your chosen institution, and check everything for you before it’s posted, so there’s no chance you’ll forget something important.
  • Making an application – As an official representative we can certify all your important documents that need to be included in your application, and return the originals to you by recorded delivery, so you don’t need to worry about your academic certificates getting lost halfway around the world!  Like everything else we do, this is a free service.
  • Getting an answer – As soon as we have your application, we will submit it to your chosen institution immediately via email or using their admissions systems online.  This ensures your application will be in on time.  Applications send by our office are then fast-tracked through the admissions process, so you’ll get a response more quickly than if you applied directly.
  • The Practicalities – Applying through Study Options reduces the risk of being rejected because of a mistake on your application form, or a query on your academic background. If the admissions teams require more information or need to question something, they will contact us for clarification, so you’ll get a chance to explain whatever the issue is. If you have an issue further down the line – a last-minute change of heart about your course choice, or when you want to start, for example – we will liaise with the university or college for you, to sort it out.

Basically, we provide you with help at each step of the process…

From deciding where to apply and making applications to accepting a place, couriering important documents over to Australia or New Zealand, help with applying for a student visa, sorting out accommodation and setting up a bank account before you leave, we’re always here to help. If you have any questions, at any point, just call or email one of the team.
