Australia in 2010!
I hope to gain further knowledge and experience in the media industry while continuing my education. After graduating from The Academy of Broadcasting in my home town I took an internship in radio that really opened up my eyes to that part of the industry, how exciting it is and what it potentially has to offer if you put in the effort to obtain it! As much I enjoyed the radio aspect of the industry, I know in my heart that television and film is where I want to be.
Now I would like to determine whether my focus is behind the scenes in the production department, or in front of the camera being the on air personality. I have always had a desire for both and have most of my experience is in the on air department. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge, insight and experience in the Australian media industry as well as seeing what it has to offer, including potential employment opportunities.
I think this internship will add to my inspiration to be the best that I strive to be in what I find my focus in the industry to be. I want this internship to challenge me so I can one day be an inspiration to those who are thinking of going into the industry. I consider this to be a stepping stone to my long journey in the media industry.
I have decided to travel to Australia to do this so I can experience what media is in another part of the world. I also have the desire to travel to Australia so I can gain life experience as well as career experience. I feel by coming there on my own I will really be able to see what I am made of. I am looking forward to the experience more than words can explain. I will be able to learn so much about another culture and lifestyle as well as myself from making this journey down under for the internship.
I sit here at my day job with a desire to be something amazing! I look forward every day to being in Australia, trying to fathom how much my life will change in a mere 15 hour flight. Stepping off the plane as a backpacker in another country which I barely know anything about, wondering what my next move will be. Where do I go from here? Which hostel will I be staying in my first night? What will my gut feeling be when I see the bluest waters I have ever laid my eyes on, better yet, swam in?! It is a life experience I am very excited to embrace! I feel lucky that I have made a point to take this adventure in my life.
Some of my friends are willing to settle here in Winnipeg, without experiencing what the world has to offer or seeing their true potential through challenging themselves by making these adventures. I believe some of my friends are truly jealous of my soon to be voyage but are also excited for me and the outcome of this experience. Plus I am going to be in the beach paradise! What 22 year old wouldn’t be jealous of having mother nature at her finest at their feet, learning how to surf, hiking, morning runs on the beach?
I am really big into fitness and absolutely love the outdoors so I am excited to be able to take this to another level being in Australia. Living in Winnipeg we only get a couple of months where we can truly take advantage of the outdoors, so needless to say this is something that I am really looking forward to!
All together this experience is going to be like none other than I have embraced in life so far! It will be a refreshing change, a great opportunity to meet new people as well as learn more about myself and my career!
