Programme: Event Planning Internships

Beth applied in February for her internship to start in June. Beth is on her sandwich placement as part of her university degree. She is required to do 12 months which she will either do all in Australia or half in Australia and then finish off the remainder in the UK.

Beth has an interview in the next week or so for a great company in Sydney. The role will involve organising the national conference for an engineering body in Australia. Although this will be an event planning role there could also be the opportunity for Beth to be involved in the marketing and promotion of the event as well.

What are you most looking forward to in Australia?

I’m looking forward to the winter not being anywhere near as cold as England’s winter! I can’t wait to have the beach pretty much in my backyard. I’m hoping it lives up to it’s expectations because I’ve been told Australia is an amazing place to travel to. And of course…I want to see the famous sights of Sydney!

What do you hope to achieve/ learn on your internship?

I’m hoping to achieve an in depth understanding of Events that take place in countries other than the UK from first hand experience.  I want to see whether things are done differently over there to what they are like here.

What do you think this internship/ placement will add to your CV?

Hopefully, it will add experience into the field of career I want to go into after my degree. It’s not only a great experience to travel and work in Australia, but also it’s going to make me more attractive to future employees.

Why are you travelling to Australia for your internship?

Once in a lifetime opportunity.

How jealous do you think your friends are going to be?

They are already pretty jealous! They are saying they are going to miss me like mad but want me to go because they would kill to have this opportunity. Plus they want to come visit…!

…I want to explore and experience life  down under.
